Β β — BETA

Beta is the second letter of the Greek alphabet and has a numerical value of 2. In Koine Greek, including the Septuagint (LXX) and the New Testament, Beta represents the B sound. Historically, it corresponds to the second Hebrew letter, ב (Bet), which is associated with house or dwelling. Beta appears in important biblical words such as βίβλος (book), βίος(life), βασιλεία (kingdom), and βάπτισμα (baptism). In biblical place names such as Βηθλεέμ (Bethlehem), it also preserves the Hebrew Beth/Bet connection meaning “house.”
